Introduction

The National Institute Of Technical Teacher's Training And Research(NITTTR) were established under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. NITTTR (Bhopal), is one of such Institutes, which caters to a wide spectrum of needs of Polytechnics in the Western Regional states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Chattisgarh and Goa. The Directorate of Technical Education, Goa and NITTTR, Bhopal have always felt the need of intensive collaboration, to work jointly for the betterment of Technical Education System of Goa.NITTTR has been training the technical teachers of Goa right from 1965. To further strengthen this pressing need a NITTTR Extension Centre was set up in Goa and became operational in 1999.

Role of Extension Centre

• Work in close collaboration with the Directorate of Technical Education of Goa State Resource Centre, such as:
  • Curriculum Development Centre
  • Learning Resource Development Centre
  • Continuing and Distance Education Centre
  for development of Technical Technician and Pharmacy Education System.
• Network with Industry, Field Agencies and other Stake Holders to remain Labour Market Oriented in Education and Training of Technical Manpower.
• Draw up an expertise and pool resources available in other states through the NITTTR Extension Centres of those states.
• Plan Programmes and Projects for the State.
• Plan and Implement Project areas related with but not limited to:
  • Curriculum Development
  • Introduction of Flexibility
  • MIS Development
  • Continuing and Distance Education
  • Industry Institute Interaction
  • Examination Reforms
  • Progressive and Summative Assessment
  • New Models of Governance and Self Sustaining Institutions
  • Community Development
  • Learning Resource Development
  • Developing Schemes of Assessment in view of changing Curricular needs
  • Educational Research

The Mission

Develop excellence in the Technical Education in the State of Goa by upgrading and updating Technical Teachers, promoting professional competencies and ongoing developments of the people engaged in Teaching, Planning and Managing Training of Technical personnel at the state level.
